On October 8, 2005 the renowned Buddhist teacher,
Thich Nhat Hanh
led over 3000 people in a mindful Peace Walk
around MacArthur Park, Los Angeles.
a demonstration for peace,
it was a beautiful
demonstration of peace.
We continued this important initiative on December 18, 2005 in Long Beach and again on January 22, 2006 in Santa Monica.
Thay, or “teacher”, as his students refer to him, called upon us to "walk in such a way that each step we make becomes a realization of peace; each step becomes a prayer for peace & harmony…walk together in silence with no banners and no pickets…not a petition addressed to anyone, nor a demonstration against anyone… walk to unite our hearts, to nurture our togetherness and to dissipate fear and separation…learn together that wrong perceptions of self and others are at the foundation of separation, fear, hate and violence, and that togetherness and collaboration is possible."

You are invited to help us nourish and cultivate the seed planted by this important event by walking in peace with us again:
Saturday, September 29th in MacArthur Park, Los Angeles
Peace is Every Step (PES) is inspired by the practices of mindfulness and walking meditation taught by the Buddha and Thich Nhat Hanh. We also draw inspiration from other great teachers like Jesus, Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr., as guides for our practice. We desire to be most inclusive. We invite people from all walks of life: religious, nonreligious, all cultures and colors, all political parties, all humanity to join us in the active practice of peace.
The primary goal of PES is to bring people together to express, represent, embody, seed and cultivate peace in word, thought and deed. We seek to lead the way as representatives of peaceful action. Peace starts with the individual, then moves to the family, the community, the nation and finally the world. As Thay says:
“Peace in Oneself; Peace in the World”
